ABOUT ME
Hi there!
My name is Maddie, I'm a mum to two boys under two (I'm crazy, I know!). I was called to doula work through my own birth experiences and the healing that came from my second birth.
My first pregnancy was fairly straightforward, no risk factors and no major pains or inconvenient symptoms. Then one night, when I was 34 weeks, my water broke. Living in rural QLD, the facilities were not equipped to support premature babies after birth but my labour was unable to be stopped. I gave birth, after laying in the same position to reduce risks, and my boy was placed on my chest, for about 10 seconds. He was flown straight to Brisbane to receive NICU support. I however, had to stay in the hospital that I birthed at for another 20 hours. My baby then spent another 17 days in NICU and SCN until we were able to bring him home.
The whole experience was very traumatic for me, I was determined that for my next, I would do whatever I could to heal.
My second birth was much more calm, natural and healing. It inspired me to help other Mothers, regardless of previous birthing experience, to achieve a positive pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey!
So, here I am! Doing what I can to achieve this. I'm currently studying a Diploma in Digital Photography as well as a Madriella Certification in Birth and Postpartum Doula Care - to offer services that will help me help others!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a doula?
Simply put - a Doula is a support person. They are someone who will provide you with physical, emotional and spiritual support through certain life events. I offer pre-conception, prenatal, birth and postpartum support as a Doula which means that I will walk the perinatal path with you, offering you information to help you advocate for yourself, and help you learn how to anticipate your future needs. My goal as your Doula is to help you transition into Motherhood for the first, second or subsequent times and allow you to feel at ease and embraced throughout our journey.
What does 'perinatal' mean?
'Perinatal' refers to the time before and after childbirth. In this case it covers a woman from the time she starts trying to get pregnant or have a baby, through to 3 months postpartum (after birth). I am open to extending care after this point on a case-by-case basis but generally only provide care during this time.
Where do you take your photoshoots?
I take photos where ever the family feels comfortable, whether that be at the beach, in their home, or in my home!
I am a naturalist and believe in taking photos of people in their 'raw' and 'vulnerable' moments, these moment generally come to light with ease in environments where the family is comfortable and calm. These style of photos capture genuine emotions - of which there is MANY in the journey to parenthood.
Locations that require excessive travel may acquire an additional fee.
